The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Westport Library are producing a live interactive broadcast as a promotion for Westport's retail businesses. It is called Zoom Westport Retail and will air via Zoom, Facebook Live and on Westport's Channel 79 on Wednesday May 6, 6pm.

The Covid-19 pandemic has taken a horrible toll on many friends and families and in the Government's efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, our local economy has taken an hit with the necessity for isolation and social distancing.

In an attempt to show that many of our businesses are adapting and are open in some form, Zoom Westport Retail will be an informative and entertaining show to shine much needed light on these businesses who need our support, especially with Mother's day just around the corner.

"Trying to keep our businesses intact during this crisis while at the same time keeping people safe is paramount," said Matthew Mandell Executive Director of the Chamber. "This show will be a lot of fun and will be a first step to reinvigorating our local economy. We have a great package put together."

Using Zoom technology, the innovative hour long event will go inside 12 retailers' stores where they will personally show off items, explain how purchasing may be done and ways to receive your items safely.

Best selling author Jane Green will be a special guest kicking off the show. Westport musician Phil Lo Presti will perform and local chef and owner of Match Provisions, Matt Storch, will do a cooking demonstration.

"I'm delighted to help out with our local businesses," said Green, "I can't get to shop right now, this is the next best thing."

The Town is also aiding this endeavor with First Selectman Marpe extending the use of its television Channel 79 which will air the show. Westport Front Porch will use Facebook Live to also present the show.  People primarily are asked to sign up for the Zoom event where chats will allow interaction with all the retailers.
