Executive Director Sought

 

The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce seeks an experienced, innovative, and relationship-driven Executive Director to lead one of Fairfield County’s most vibrant business organizations. The Westport Weston Chamber is the hub of our community.  We connect people, empower businesses, and strengthen our towns.

The Executive Director oversees all Chamber operations, including strategic planning, financial and administrative management, membership development, event programming, advocacy, fund development, marketing and communications, and regional partnerships. This role also serves as the primary liaison to key public and Town agencies, educational institutions, corporate partners, and community organizations. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and has full operational authority to manage resources and execute the Chamber’s strategic priorities.

The next Executive Director of the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce must be a dynamic, relationship driven community champion who embodies passion, vision, and entrepreneurial energy. Building on the Chamber’s strong reputation and long-standing partnerships with the town governments of Westport and Weston, the business community, and local organizations, the CEO must be adept at nurturing these critical relationships while charting a path for innovation, growth, and long-term sustainability.

  • This is not a traditional chamber role. It is an opportunity to shape the future of a community, influence systems, and create a lasting impact across multiple sectors.
  • The Executive Director serves as the chief strategist, convener, and community catalyst for the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role extends beyond traditional chamber management, acting as a central leader who advances economic vitality, quality of life, and regional competitiveness.
  • The Executive Director leads the Chamber as a business membership organization, and local champion and events coordinator for area wide programs.

 

The Executive Director is expected to:

  • Set and execute a bold, future-focused vision for the Chamber and broader Westport, Weston and Fairfield County communities.
  • Serve as a trusted community leader and influencer, shaping conversations and outcomes across sectors.
  • Act as a bridge-builder between business, government, nonprofits, and residents.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities that strengthen the local economy and quality of life.
  • Lead with innovation, adaptability, and a strong sense of place.
  • Work collaboratively with Chamber staff to support member businesses.
  • Create and/or run multiple large community events

​ Qualifications & Experience Sought Include:

​

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in Chamber of Commerce management; economic/community development; or nonprofit/public sector leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution; community engagement and collaboration; grant writing and resource development; and financial and organizational management.
  • Strong understanding of economic development ecosystems, public-private partnerships, and community development challenges and opportunities.
